I like everything about this ad with the enormous exception of the protagonist’s unflattering contemporary trouser silhouette at 33 seconds.
Everything else - the lighthouse, its furniture, the cast iron pan, the analogue technology - feels classic and timeless. The best of the 20th century.
In this otherwise beautiful film, those low-rise slim-taper jeans are the one sad reminder that the 2010s - the decade it all fell apart - existed.
And now - instead of in a cosy lighthouse on a picturesque island - we’re all just stuck in the 2010s’ cruel aftermath of Zoom calls, racist Facebook groups, landfills full of disposable vapes and a marketing landscape where a nice brand ad like this one is an increasingly rare treat.
