Final words for 2024
Like the London Underground, In Moderation will be out of service on Boxing Day.
Thank you for reading In Moderation this year. I’ve sent a newsletter every Thursday morning at 9am since I started back in April.
Keeping this schedule has occasionally been stressful and tiring, but for the most part, is a highlight of my week.
I am grateful to all of you for subscribing, reading, replying to these emails and interacting with In Moderation in any way.
And I am grateful to my much younger self for spending so much time sitting in the various Prets of Fitzrovia, anxiously typing away, trying to prove himself worthy. He is still yet to create a work of staggering genius, but became worthy in different ways.
Plus, the younger James has given today-me a Dropbox full of material to sift through and post here when I am just too tired (or when the outdated slurs are easy enough to delete).
Next Thursday is Boxing Day. I’m going to take that off then be back here on the 2nd of January, 2025.
I hope you have a great end of the year, whatever that means to you.
Here is a picture of a stapler.
My Advertising Portfolio, Chapter 1
Over the years, colleagues and recruiters have suggested that I should have a portfolio of the ads I have made so I can get offered jobs. I’ve tried a million times, but I can’t do it. Uploading all your ads to a little Squarespace site? Yuck! Listing your industry awards and shortlists? Humiliating.
My Advertising Portfolio, Chapter 2

My Ad Portfolio - Chapter 3
A series about my illustrious career in advertising. Here’s Chapter 1 if you want to start there.
