BOOKS:
I only completed one book this month as I’ve been busy thinking about cowboys and wearing a suit.
The Blind Roadmaker, by Ian Duhig
I was listening to Springtime — a covid-era side project of Gareth Liddiard from The Drones and Tropical Fuckstorm — and I clicked through to look at the songwriting credits and noticed that Ian Duhig was credited on a few tracks. I Googled and it learned that Ian Duhig is an Irish poet and also Gareth’s uncle. The Blind Roadmaker was the only one of his books that Waltham Forest Libraries had on its system, so I copped it.
It’s poetry, so I have no idea what to make of it - but it felt good washing over me. This poem of Ian Duhig’s isn’t in this book, but contains the lyrics that got my attention.
MOVIES:
Decision to Leave (2022)
Black Bag (2025)
Transpecos (2016)
This ruled.
The Nile Hilton Incident (2017)
Good but long and BORING.
The Secret Agent (2025)
Saw in the cinema. Still thinking about IT.
Fargo (1996)
Rewatch. Better than ever.
Sicario: Day of the Soldado (2018)
The Love That Remains (2025)
Saw this in the cinema. There was only two other people in the whole screening, and one of them sat in the seat directly next to mine. Psychotic. Love it otherwise.
Before Sunrise (1995)
Before Sunset (2004)
Eternity (2025)
The one nice thing I can say about this is that the old version of Miles Teller’s character looked just like him.
